December 2020

We’re excited to share with you the cool features we’ve been working on the past month.

Here's what's been cooking:

  • New features in the Pixel editor
  • Custom scrollbar in the image panel
  • Starter subscription plan
  • Other changes

New features in the Pixel editor

Semantic and instance segmentation mode

You can now set the segmentation mode. Choose between semantic segmentation and instance segmentation.

  • By default, the Pixel editor is in semantic segmentation mode. All the instances that are assigned to the same class count as one. Try this: Create an instance and assign it a class. Next, create multiple instances and assign them the same class. Notice how the instances that you’ve created count as one instance.
  • To perform an instance segmentation, turn the Semantic/instance segmentation mode on by sliding the toggle to the right. In this case, the instances won’t be grouped together and each instance will count as one.

Uncheck the select/deselect instance button

When you create a new instance in the Pixel editor and assign it a class, the Select/deselect instance button of that instance won’t be checked, meaning that the next instance you create will be unassigned.

We also did other minor changes in the Pixel editor such as:

  • Removing the New instance button.
  • Reordering the toolbar.

Custom scrollbar in the image panel

We fine-tuned the image panel to help you scroll your images much faster than before, especially if you’re working with a large batch of images. Drag the custom scrollbar (2) to the left or to the right to navigate the image panel. Or enter the number of your image in the input box (1) and press Enter to go to an image.

Starter subscription plan

The Starter subscription plan is ideal for self-service, mid-sized projects with a limited workforce. You can create one team of up to 10 users per month, upload up to 25,000 images, and manage and edit projects using our advanced annotation, project management, and user management tools. Learn more about the pricing here.

Other changes

  • The entropy values feature moved from the Images tab to the Settings tab.
  • We changed the design of the Tag icon.
  • The instance group expands when you classify the instances from the drop-down menu and collapses when you classify the instances in the right panel. To collapse or expand an instance group, simply select the down arrow or the right arrow next to the corresponding class, respectively.
