We can finally reveal what we've been working on for a while. Give a warm welcome to the document editor, which you can use for sentiment analysis, name entity recognition, information extraction, and much more.

Let's see what the hype is all about!

Document project

Create a document project

To create a document project:

  1. In the left toolbar, select Projects > New project.
  2. Enter your project’s name and description.
  3. Choose Documents with attached URLs as your annotation type.
  4. Select Next.

Upload documents

You can import documents to Documents with attached URLs projects by linking them from external storages. The linked documents are displayed in SuperAnnotate, but they are not stored in our local servers. Learn more.

🚧

  • SuperAnnotate supports text files with UTF encoding only.
  • You cannot upload more than 50,000 documents, whether it is in a root folder or a folder. The remaining documents will be skipped.

Download document projects

To download a document project:

  1. Go to the Download tab.
  2. Select Prepare for download.
  3. You can choose to download the documents by their status: Not started, In progress, Completed, Quality check, Returned, and Skipped. Check the boxes to do so (optional).
  4. Select Prepare.
  5. When the download is complete, a folder will appear. Download that folder.

The download folder contains the following:

  • Classes JSON
  • Document JSON
  • Folder(s) (if applicable)

📘

A folder will only be exported if it contains documents that have the document status(s) indicated in the download settings. The exported folder will only contain the relevant document(s).

Instance

Create instance

To create an instance, highlight the text you want to annotate.

Delete instance

To delete an instance:

  1. Right click on the instance.
  2. Deselect all the classes.

Delete all instances

To delete all the instances in a document, select Delete All in the top panel or press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+D.

Classes

Assign class to instance

You can assign a class to an instance in two ways:

Method 1

Right-click on a selected text and choose a class from the drop-down menu.

Method 2

You can choose a class before annotating an instance.

  1. In the top panel, choose a class from the classification menu.
  2. Select a text. It will be assigned the class you chose.

In the text editor, you can assign multiple classes to the same instance.

Assign class to multiple instances

To change the class of a group of instances that have the same class:

  1. In the right panel, find the group of instances whose class you want to change.
  2. Select its corresponding drop-down menu.
  3. Choose another class.

To assign a class to all the search result(s):

  1. Choose a class from the classification drop-down menu.
  2. Enter a keyword in the search bar. The search result(s) will be highlighted in the document.
  3. Select Classify All. All the search results will be assigned the class you chose.

To assign a class to the next search result:

  1. Choose a class from the classification drop-down menu.
  2. Enter a word or a sentence in the search bar. The search result(s) will be highlighted in the document.
  3. Select Classify Next or press Shift+Enter.

📘

When you select Classify Next or press Shift+Enter, you will be assigning a class to the first search result, then the second, then the third, etc.
