Two-factor authentication
Make your account more secure with two-factor authentication (2FA). When you enable 2FA, you’ll be asked to sign in with a 6-digit code generated by your authentication app on your device aside from your password.
Note that all users who have signed in with their email addresses (not Google) can enable 2FA. If you’ve signed in to your account with Google, you won’t be able to use 2FA. In this case, we recommend using Google’s 2FA.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)
To enable two-factor authentication:
- Click on your avatar.
- Select Manage account.
- Go to Security.
- Select Two-factor authentication.
- Click Enable.
- Make sure you have an authentication app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or Duo, installed on your device.
- Scan the QR code with your authentication app. You’ll obtain a 6-digit code. If you can’t scan the QR code, click Can’t scan the QR code? When you do that, you’ll obtain a code. Enter that code in the authentication app.
- Enter the 6-digit code on the two-factor authentication setup page.
- When you’re done, click Set up.
You’ll receive an email message confirming that you’ve enabled two-factor authentication and that you'll have to sign in with a 6-digit code from an authentication app on your device aside from your password.
